PROJECT OVERVIEW
I collaborated with a leading Chinese automotive manufacturer to develop and test prototype exterior interfaces (eHMI) designs for next-generation autonomous vehicles.
The Vision
The main purpose of designing such interface is to improve the safety of road users by facilitating communication between pedistrians and autonomous vehicles.
In conventional settings, pedistrians understands the intent of the vehicles by communicating with its driver through eye contact, hand gestures, and more. These External Human-Machine Interfaces aim to maintain such communications in abscence of drivers.
Responsibilities
I designed and produced icons, animations, and virtual test environments.
I also designed and conducted both online and in-person experiments to evaluate the comprehensibility, memorability, learnability, and visibility of these eHMIs.
Lastly, I performed statistical analysis to trurn user performance into actionable insights.
